Default Tank Sticker Confusion?

Hey guys.........on a 69 350 350HP L46......is it possible a tank sticker would contain " - Jet V8 " ? The sticker was partial and the car is all small block.....I now most 350's are "Turbo Fire".......but why would the tank sticker say "-Jet V8"? Was this reserved soley for the BB? Did 350's say this? Sorry...there are no other numbers or letters as the rest of the sticker in this area is torn and long gone........so that's all I see. Is there a sure fire way to determine if your car was orignally a SB or BB?..thanks, john

Most likely the portion of the Corvette Order Copy you have is from a different car. Not too uncommon to have a document from another car.
pulled it off the car myself......everything else matches. Everything about this car is SB.....tach, emmisions decal (older than dirt)....smog, engine stamp, hood, pictures of the car in the late 60's early 70's....all numbers in all the above indicate 350............whay the word "jet"??

Avalon John,

Here are copies of the two tank stickers from my '69 L46 Convertible - it list a 350HP Turbo-Jet V8 for the engine type.

Hope it helps!

I'm not trying to hi-jack the post - do you have a way to check Zone 9 Dealer Code 415. I believe it may be Lawrence Marshal Chevy-Olds out of Hempstead, Texas (recently closed). I have a blue dealer envelope that came with the car - but I am the 4th owner that I know of and it may be from a sale other than the original sale.

Thanks!
Jim

Hi AJ,
That's an interesting find on your tank sticker.
When you say "everything else matches", are you saying that other parts of the sticker are more readable? Do you think the tank had ever been dropped before you dropped it?
The few tank sheets I have access to do show something interesting...
The wording is.... TURBO-JET 427 V8, NOT... TURBO-JET V8. So should you be seeing '427' too, or was it just a misstype... JET for FIRE? Sure would be nice to have a larger sample to look at. On air cleaner lables 427 always followed JET, too.
Such a good puzzle!!!
Regards,
Alan

Well, while I was putting all that together J W had the answer!!!!

Also, just got back from the NCRS meet outside Phila PA..........just met with the Tank Sticker GOD, Al Grenning. VERY nice gentleman who took the time to photograph the ramains of the sticker and was going to research it for me. THANK YOU VERY MUCH for posting that picture.

I bought the car about a month ago. The tank stickers were in an envelope with the title. The gas tank is new, so I'm figuring the prior owner (deceased) put one of them aside when he changed the tank; not sure where the other one was located.

You're still pretty close. May run into you one of these days - if you go to Carlisle show or any club events.
