Got my '74 Vette on Friday, while checking today I think I found the tank sticker. I was able to pull the rubber and get part of my hand in and felt paper on the right side. It is brittle.
Is there any way to get it out short of major surgery????
There may be another copy above the steering column between the tach and the speedo.
If not, you need to drop the tank so you have complete access to the entire sticker. From the looks of mine it was only glued on the corners. I didn't remove it a previous owner did but it is 99 percent intact except for the corners.
What's the best way to access between the tach and speedo to check? Can access to the tank be made through the interior?? I really would like to get the sheet out.

No, without risking destroying what you have found. As you already know, it's very, very brittle. Dropping the tank allows you to have working room for the slow and extremely careful removal of the sticker.
Remember: it's the only tank sticker you're ever going to have for this car.
Hi JAM,
Unless youre trying to solve some puzzle about your car perhaps the tank sheet should just stay there. As Mike said, dropping the tank is really the only way to have safe access to it.

Alan

jam, I think you'd find that if you try to go through the rear bulkhead the rear end is between the bulkhead and the tank.
But why destroy the rear bulkhead when it is not that hard to lower the tank?
As far as the possible sticker between the speedo and the tach, removing the top dash pad is my preference but you can also go up from the bottom also by removing the steering wheel trim panel, the headlight vacuum override valve bracket, the heat-a/c duct and reach over the steering column and feel around.
