Have a 69 and just replaced the fuel tank. What's the best way to clean a fuel line of rust and trash (if I have any in the line). I want to run something through the line to make sure it's clean and clear of rust and trash.
Is this a car that has been sitting a long time or just that you replaced the tank recently? If it has been sitting and you can see rusty clumpy bumps inside the line then you will have to replace it. If you just replaced the tank but have been driving it, then you can probably just blow out the lines.
being a 69 those lines will rust from the inside too, which you cannot tell,
until it starts leaking, Best is to replace with stainless,
and never worry about them again.
here is a picture for some incentive to replace them ! 69VETT
here is another, take no chances with gasoline and fiberglass !
Fuel lines are an often overlooked item when dealing with the fuel system. If you have gunk in your tank, you have it in your fuel line. Same with rust.
Why take the chance with such an important, low cost item.
This is more than an incentive. I'm replacing with SS.
The reason I replaced the tank is it starting leaking out of the clear blue one day. So bet the line will to.
Thanks guys for opening my eyes.
