Wiring harnesses for 1969 BB vet, what kind of problems will I encounter
in redoing the car. How long will it take to do the work and what is the hardest part in doing the work.

Wiring is the next thing on my list.
I have heard that changing the engine harness is easy, but the dash harness is a pain. I am planning to do the engine harness first.

I easily did the engine harness 5 years ago with the engine in the car. Now that it is out of the car, I decided to change the forward lamp harness. This is not so bad, until you get to the fiber optic bundle that goes thru the firewall by the dimmer switch. You will need to disconnect and remove the steering column, door sills, kick plates, left side instrument panel, right side dash panel, radio, center gauge panel, shift **** and T-handle, shifter plate, e-brake console, disconnect the vent controls and then disconnect the fiber optic strip from the center console. In other words, everything. With it all opened up, you can go right ahead and change the dash wiring. Oh, and the rear wiring harness/fiber optic harness is another story. Haven't even contemplated that yet.

I changed the rear harness last winter. It was pretty easy, hardest part was getting the glued down carpet up. The fiberoptics for the rear are easily routed. You can access everything without pulling the seats, but you do have to pull the center console

Nothin' to it. You will be very pleased, and your engine will idle like never before.

Pay specific attention how the old original dash harness is installed; how it routes behind the speedo/tach and over to the center cluster and beyond.

Your replacement harness has to install the same way or you could run up against dash pad fit problems with the new harness bumping against dash braces, etc.

the steering wheel support is made from very rough cast steel,
the edges on both sides can be razor sharp,
and your dash harness has to be routed over it.
I split some tubing and epoxied it over the sharp edges, to prevent shorted wires.
Engine, Front and rear lights are easy to do,
the dash is NOT, you will have to remove the complete dash and console. 69VETT

Hi A,
I took a few minutes to compare the connectors and their position on the old harness to the new harness. That way you don't get the new harness half way installed and then discover a problem.
69V's point about the steering column mounts is important, too.
Regards,
Alan
