Sorry to bother everyone, but I'm not sure what is involved in the diagnosis/repair of this problem and am looking for advice.
I live in CA and just returned from smog inspection where I passed everything except for the FECF test. The tech that inspected my car said this is a new test (Dec '07) and that quite a few of the older Vettes have failed this test.
Is there a way I can check this on my car or is it something that I need to go to a shop to have checked? I don't know much about this particular part of the emissions controls and hope you all could point me in the right direction.
Like an idiot, I forgot to mention that I have an '82, and had the motor rebuilt about eight years ago.
I just replaced the spark plugs/wires, distributor cap, etc. Everything is running fine, except for this little problem getting through smog inspection.
I assume this has to do with the Evaporative Control System (carbon canister) to absorb fuel vapors. I don't have any 82' information, but it must be close to the 79' Shop Manual I have. Here's the trouble shooting info. Hope it helps
