Default Shifter ****

My 81 has the wood kit including the shifter ****. when it is in the drive position, you can see a gap under the button (I know I am OCD). Does the stock ***** do this or is mine in need of adjustment?

Dont both screw on? They do on my 72... I might just screw "up" the **** and screw "down" the button until the gap goes away. A little loctite to hold them in place??

Dont know about the 81, but might work...

Did have that thought. Button is all the way down and if I raise the ball, the threads show and that is sort of ugly.

Don't put up with those nasty threads showing, wrap some duct tape around that stick.

Yes both screw on and no when you install the factory ***** there should not be a gap showing.

I guess if you wanted your current **** to work with what you have you could cut some of the shaft off that the button screws down on. I don't think I would do this though.

what about a jamb nut at the bottom of the ****. that would raise the **** just the right amount to hide the gap..
