Default Interior Question

I am new to this and want to limit my mistakes. The vette we got has matching numbers and everything under the hood has been taken care of nicely over the years. Everything but the carpet on the interior is orginal. IS there a way to tell what color code the interior is? I want to get new windshield posts but there are about 15 different options at midamerica and all look the same.

Thanks!
Jason

Open the drivers door and you'll see a metal plate on the body just below the windshield frame pillar. There are date codes and interior color codes there. What year is your vette? The more info you give us, the better the responses will be.

It's a 72; Elkhart green exterior; Very similar to your avatar. I've been told camel but I've been told dark brown.

Black or saddle are the only two colors listed in the Blackbook for Elkhart Green. Code on the trim tag will be 417 for saddle vinyl or 421 for saddle leather.

There was no factory dark brown interior trim for 72.

hi Jtran20 welcome to the forum, If your trim tag says 421 for the interior then your car came with the deluxe saddle interior which would have included leather seat covers and plush pile carpeting on the floor, rear compartment and the bottom of each door panel. If your trim tag says 417 then your car came with the standard saddle vinyl interior and the carpet would be a 80/20 loop pile on the floor and rear compartment only. I really like the Elkhart green with the saddle interior, I have one myself.post a few pictures when you can
my interior:

If you have one of the original panels that has good color on it, just take that panel to your nearest professional auto body paint supply store. They will be able to mix us SEM 'Color Coat' vinyl dye to match what you have now. A pint of SEM vinyl dye will re-color all of your interior panels (once they are cleaned and if they are not damaged) and they will look like new and match the present interior color.

Brown interior is known as "Saddle" but many vendors SCREW up code and give you later colors. 72 Saddle is "Dark Saddle" while 73-4 Saddle is "Light Saddle". Good luck in dealing with vendors
