It seems like a LOT of money!

I agree maybe if it had already attained the mentioned award. I have a 70 LT-1 roadster, it isn't 100% original (motor is a CE warranty motor) but, my wife's LT-1 Vette is fully rebuilt and fun to drive (TKO 600 5 speed and swapped the 3.70's for 3.08's.)

The word "survivor" says to me this won't won't be the most reliable or well driving Vette avalible. I would rather have a car I can use to have some fun in.

I actually bought a original owner 70 LT-1 coupe but the thought of the car getting hit by a illegal alien blowing a stop sign, made my stomache churn every time I drove it so, I sold it.

I guess if you want to trailer the Vette to Bloomington, or Carlisle and show it at the event, OK but, I like to drive my Vettes.

Quick look at the Vette, master cylinder is a replacment, water pump pully is wrong, missing emissions equipment with correct dating can be VERY EXPENSIVE to locate. Price seems about $15K too high even if it has full documentation.

If this Pro Team auction is the same car as the one listed for $79k, it went for $54k at the 2008 Bloomington auction.

Would you be happy owning/driving this car if you didn't repaint it?

If you're paying a premium for this car's survivor status then I guess a repaint would hurt its value. That would perhaps make it pointless paying this premium instead of finding a Vette that was already repainted, was therefore not a coveted 'survivor', and was priced lower.

Just a thought

How does the condition of your white one compare to the maroon one? I think I would rather keep the big block!

There is a corvette Mike's in Chicago and I have been over there several times, in fact I asked them to let me borrow their lift once so I could do some work on my brakes. I've always found this location to be up front and honest so I have no reason to doubt them.

Are all sales final or if you get the car and it not what you expected can you ship it back for a refund? Spending that kind of money I would think that could be part of the deal

I would keep your car, but it's your money.....enjoy it!

Although the LT1 is a fantastic car, I didn't realize that the LT1 brings double or more than the LS5 for the same condition.

I guess that is the definition of a "survivor". In speaking with them they acknowledge the price is high but we are discussing a trade. Can a car be judged a survivor if it is repainted or does it need to be all original paint? This car definitley needs new paint.
Since some of the car has been repainted...then I would say the "unrestored and unmolested" statement is out the window!! Plus IMO, if the car was "definitely a good candidate for Bloomington Gold Survivor Judging" I would think he would have it judged to support his asking price.

To me, a "survivor" car is a car that has just been maintained properly and is wearing the original paint in and out, original interior....etc. I wouldn't expect the original wear & tear items to be on the car (brake pads, tires, etc).

Production numbers by color & model seem to be non existent for this year!

Keep your car!!!

Thanks for all your input. I think I woke up this morning thinking more clearly. The LT1 in its present condition I would think is worth no more than $45k. My car at worst is worth $60k. It really needs nothing and is more than very presentable. The LT1 at best needs paint. If I got that car I would have to immediately drop $5-$10k on paint. They would have to do nothing to my car to sell. They have about $60k into that car and obviously cannot sell it. They paid too much for the car and arent willing to pay the piper for their mistake. With my car they can get all their money back and probably more. That explains why they are in a hurry to trade. I guess that says it all.
