after i r/r the outside handles, i found that the rod that is attached to the handle wouldn't depress the mechanism enough to open the door. because of the way the rod is attached to the bellcrank, i had to remove the handle and adjust. is there any way to adjust this rod without removing the handle?
Yes, you need to spin the threaded handle rod swivel pivot pin up or down the rod.
I have two brand new outside door handles.....and gaskets. I also have large hands (not bragging.....just sayin')..... Is there a best way to get the rod disconnected from the handle and what is it? I'm assuming my gear wrench of the appropriate size will help me with the two nuts.
My issue is if I employ my wife's tiny hands and she breaks a nail.....I'm screwed... and this time that is not a good thing...
