Default Radio/Alternator Issue

The previous owner of my Vette had a few weeks to hold on to the vette while the wife and I were on vacation. He decided to fix up a few things. He replaced the altenator, but had to disconnect the radio. For some reason having the radio connected drained the battery. Any suggestions on what to do?

Thanks!
Jason

Did he have the radio hooked to a constant 12v source? It should go to one that is 12v only when the key is in the run or accessory position which would not drain the battery when car is off. There should be a wire from the radio to a constant 12v source, I think it is yellow, for preset and clock memory only.

If it is an aftermarket head unit there are three possibilities: 1) wired wrong as mentioned above; 2) it is too powerful for the car wiring and keeps blowing fuses...or has fried a fusible link in the wiring harness; 3) the radio doesn't even work and he doesn't want you to know that until you've taken possession.
