Default More questions on window installation??

I have the vertical channels loosely mounted, and the motor/regulator assemblies mounted inside the doors.. I have the short horizontal channel loosely mounted.

Does the long horizontal channel, that bolts to the bottom of the window glass, get bolted to the glass FIRST, or do I insert the channel inside the door and on the rollers, THEN bolt the glass to the channel??

As I type this, I am thinking the with the channel bolted to the window, I MAY not be able to maneuver the channel onto the rollers???

Also, the long window mounted channel has a round hole at one end, and elongated hole at the other (where it bolts to the window glass). Which hole goes where (for or aft)????

Thanks,
Rob

Hi Rob,
I bolted the track to the window glass first. The elongated hole goes to the rear of the window.

Alan

Mako, Don't forget to put your outside chrome strips on before you put the glass in, you can't get to the mounting screws for the outside weather strip with glass in the way, found out the hard way and had to re-pull glass.

Good Luck

Thanks to all for the advice.....

Now that I have the PW motors, regulators, lock cylinders, latch mechanisms, and window tracks all installed inside the doors.... should I go ahead and hang them on the car???

I want to work with them as light as possible, so I think it would be a good idea to install the window glass and chrome top strips after the doors are on the car...???

Should I install the weatherstripping before or after hanging the doors on the car???? I'm thinking before....??

Thanks again,

Rob

Before would be so easy but it's not that hard when it's on and you can fit the door easier without them on.. Remember to tape your door edges, fender and back door edge with painters tape before installing your door.

Thanks Rob...

Yea I think it might be easier to handle and fit the door without the weatherstrip, now that you mention it. I think Willcox advised me to install the weatherstrip first, as the door will probably align differently with new weatherstripping installed...

I'm starting the door alignment from scratch, as I pretty much "remade" my door gaps...

I'll post some pictures of the doors and the seats in the next couple of days...
