Default 1980 corvette problem Please help

I recently bought a vette. The previous owner did not have any of the original parts in the engine compartment. The car looks and runs great, but none of the wiring harness is connected in the engine compartment. The car has a separate push button starting system.
My problem is that there is no power to the fuse box and when I run a line from the post next to the battery straight to a socket at the front of the fuse box the dash lights and heater still don't work and even when everything is off something is draining power from the battery.
Can somebody tell me where the fuse box gets it's direct power from.
I'm thinking something that is unplugged in the engine comp runs back to the fuse box. like the altenator that now goes thru the separate starting system. If somebody has any ideas how I can get power back to the fuse box the right way I would appreciate it.

Thanks chris

It comes from the starter solenoid (red wire from the fusible link). The schmatic below is for 78', but should be close to your 80'

The fuse box power comes from a fusible link from the starter motor. These do burn out when there's a short

BUT

If you feed power to the fuse box (from the battery) and still don't get power to the accesories you've got other problems too.

edit. Gary, you were too quick for me. At least we agreed.
