To save money and still get the upgraded plastic doors. I bought my storage compartment door frames "black - paint to match". Since my interior is black, I thought that might be the end of it. But they look kinda "blah" in naked black plastic... so...
I guess I gotta paint them?
Any prep tricks to clean them with no residue?
Same question for the SS hinges... my original hinges were also painted black. How to prep a shiny SS hinge to not flake the paint off?
I would use either SEM black vinyl paint, or SEM 39063 gloss trim black, or Duplicolor HVP104 Gloss Black vinyl paint. I've used both on plastic and they both turn out just as nice and durable. The Duplicolor has a slight bit more gloss. Looks like you just Armor All'd it.
I just used a quick swipe of Xylol solvent on a shop paper towel over the plastic with no issues done to the grain on the plastic. A quick wipe is OK, just don't sit there and rub it into infinity.

Thanks to all for the replies. I wound up sandblasting the SS hinges and using Rustolium semi-gloss black on them. Riveting them to the frames was fun with hand tools but I got them OK.
Clear plastic enamel on the black frames and the e-brake console.
Looks all brand new and very "close enough" for a driver.
