Well I was looking around on ebay and saw this really nice looking 1981 silver vette. I questioned the miles on the car from a close-up look at the speedo. The seller says it has 60,000 miles in the add but the speedo actually says 64,893. I wasn't trying to be rude, just letting them know I noticed the actual miles on the car. This was the reply from fireboltgirl.

(do you really think a car would have exactly 60,000 miles? Get a life and waste someone else's time)

I called about a 67 Chevelle F/S...not an Ebayer...His ad stated 90-95%complete restore, and he had added a lot of the specific numbers and an monies he had spent on the car. Well, it must have been what I said...When I asked about what needed to be completed as your ad is vague in this area...he repied..My ad is vague? My ad is vague? And he hung up on me. Oh well....I really do not want to buy from a total jerk anyway...semi-jerk I can cope with.... total jerk...useless!

Ps...that car is right up the street from me (less than 8 miles) and has been on ebay for a long time...why? Price! Way too much! Sounds like he falls into the TOTAL JERK column.

Takes all kinds doesn't it? Especially on Fleabay...

Would have been just as easy to tell you "I just put a round number up for the ad since I am still driving the car, not meaning to mislead anyone".

I guess it's easier to be an azz....

Be glad you have not purchased this car. Anyone who is so far off on miles in an ad probably didn't pay much attention to miles when it comes to scheduled maintenance such as oil changes, etc.

Agree ^^^ he or she could have stated 65,000 miles since the mileage was only 107 miles from there. Maybe they were just living up to the screen name (fireboltgirl)

Have you ever sold anything on ebay? You get an awful lot of questions that are, lets say, not productive. And honestly, if someone sent me a message correcting me for saying 60 when its 64 (you dont really think this difference is significant, do you?) I might have been a little impatient too.

No reason for the seller to be nasty, but no good reason for the question, either.

I get it about being frustrated answering "stupid" questions but when trying to sell something for "top dollar" patience is a virtue. The add could have read 60K+ or 64K and then no one expects the milage as what the odometer actually reads. I don't think it's a big deal either way but no need for an "over the top" answer.

Hi goldfradict,
I like the fact that you did call him or her on it. Heres the funny thing. I'm researching C6 Z06 prices on ebay. Now yesterday I saw a vette with exactly 5000 miles on the digital odometer readout on the dash. Trust me that caught my eye.

Also for instance. If you take a new 2009 Z06 with 4893 miles on it that to me is and maybe other people is a large amount of miles to put on a car like a Z06 in one year. It's also a big difference is dollars as well.
I know may be this 81 vette has a 350 or 500 HP engine to.

We've sold lots of things on ebay and you do get lots of weird and dumb questions. These questions can get frustrating to a seller. I always answered a question in a nice tone, but meanwhile my blood was boiling.

I sold 2 cars on ebay, my very nice 1974 full convertible Blazer and my brothers very nice 1964 Riviera a few years back. I couldn't wait till the auctions were over because of all the dumb questions.

Oh................! So, as a buyer I should not expect to be able to ask questions for fear I may be trying the seller's patience?

I have sold five (5) Corvette's on eBay and three (3) others on other sites, I know that may not be many to some...But, I do appreciate the questions. To me, from that you can pretty much size up a serious buyer as to a tire kicker. Sure you will get some odd *****, but, that just goes with the territory when you are appealing to such a global audience. What does try my patience is the guy who asks for specific photo's of the car over and over and over....I take very exacting photo's to prove out the description I have for the car....I don't mind a couple extra shots, but, I do not like a person posing as a buyer trying to figure out how his /her car should be assembled and/or made to be correct..... using my car as a model and me as their personal photographer.

There are some real characters on eBay. I was looking for a spare tire lock for my 71' and there was one on eBay. I sent the person a question asking what letter code was on the key so I knew I could rekey it to fit my 71'. His answer "how the hell do I know".
Takes all kinds I guess.

Nice car but even if she wanted 5 grand for it I wouldn't buy it with that attitude.

No Gregg, that's not what I'm saying at all. You took what I said out of context.

I'm saying there are some boneheads in ebay who don't read the description of an item or look at pictures in the ebay add, then will ask a stupid question.

Peace....I did not mean to be so.....but, you are correct. You state an obvious attribute to the car within the ad and without fail some odd ball reply's with a question asking if it has A/C, P/S, P/B'S ect.

Some people just have a hard time of digesting, or recognizing what they have just read or...... not read. I for one like to speak to the owner one on one to clear any / all matters up.

5000 miles difference is the difference of me driving for two years... that is a BIG difference in my book...

they should round up to 65K, not down...
