I am replacing my vacuum lines and I am to the point where I need to get to the headlight switch. Is there a way to do this without removing the dash pad???
Yes! If you remove the three upper screws in the left pad, remove the side screws in the door jamb, the center console housing screws, and remove the lower column cover you should be able to pull the outer edge of the pad out enough to access the switch.
Now the disclaimer... I don't like doing it this way... you run the risk of breaking your driver side dash pad. Its not really that hard to remove the upper dash pad from the car to gain access to behind the driver dash pad. http://willcoxcorvette.com/repairand...lp.php?hID=105

Is the vacuum hose to the switch bad? If the system works, you might postpone changing it until you find the need to take the dash panel out. I replaced all my hoses a few years ago, all except that one and the one to the wiper solenoid. Now that I am doing a restoration, I ended up changing the forward lamp harness and had to route the new fiber optic bundle under the dash to the center console. Involved disconnecting the rag joint, firewall brace and dropping the steering column in order to take the dash panel out. Good opportunity to change those last two vacuum lines, as well as lube the tach and speedo cables.
