Default Glutton for punishment

First of all....I have an admission. Actually, it's a sickness really. I......am an addict. A Corvette addict. No known cure for my disease, and I'm almost positive it will be the death of me.

So I was thinking of de-cluttering the driveway, seeing as how a camp trailer..Chevy truck...Jeep Wrangler...work truck....my wife's Durango....and the 80 Corvette all tend to make my house look like a used car lot. Oh...and the snowmobile too. (I'm neat). Anyways, I decided to place an ad for the Jeep...hoping to make more room. I got a few nibbles, and then I came across a similar "for sale" Craigslist auction...for.....(you guessed it) a Corvette. A 1976 Corvette that runs/drives, in primer...for $2900 or possible trade. Being the sick bastard that I am...I responded to his ad...asking him if he would be interested in trading for a Jeep. You guessed it....he was.

After a preliminary inspection of the Corvette, and a similar inspection of the Jeep...both owners have exchanged projects. I go to get the car tomorrow.

She's all original, including the interior that's actually in good condition. A little fiberglass work is needed around the door handes, since the prior owner shaved the handles and went with "door poppers". Since the present owner could not get IN the car with the poppers, it was decided that he needed to add in the original handles. She needs some work, to be honest, but it will fit well with my vision of a car very similar to Panic's ride. I really like the execution of that car, and I think this will lend itself well to a racecar style project. I will post photos when I pick her up tomorrow, and you can see what I've gotten myself into.

Again...glutton for punishment....with a capital G. Or is that "idiot", with a capital I?? Hmmmm.

Trevor

Who needs a four wheel drive Jeep in the winter in Idaho when just another 2 wheel, rear drive Vette will do?

My wife must think I'm crazy....2 Corvettes in the driveway. What I thought was funny....last night she says, "It's YOUR deal, so whatever you want to do with it is up to you. Oh, by the way honey, how would that look painted white with pink pearl??"

Wife says "matte black" is out of the question. So that leaves orange or Admiral Blue. Original color was red, but I like the orange.

So it begins.

I have the same affliction, was up to 3 vettes, 2 trans ams, 4 cutlasses, and a bunch of other stuff.

I just went the other way, traded my '74 4-speed coupe for an '86 Jeep CJ-7. Both parties left happy.

I couldn't agree more! She's the best thing since sliced bread....or even narrow brake pedal mods!! She's very supportive of my trading addictions, and I couldn't ask for a better mate, friend, and wife. Of course she gives me crap over the used car lot in front of our house....but I pretty much earn the criticism!!

Nice trade, now you have double trouble, two cars that you might
want to put time and money into. Ha,Ha, I almost did the same
thing the other day when I found a deal on another vette, but decided
to let it go. Yes I think most, if not all of us have the sickness.

Riggs.

I think mines even worse, I already did a frame off, an engine rebuild, oh like almost twice. Well the engine is out AGAIN, (rebuild #3) and now im gonna swap the trans that ive already converted from an auto to a Muncie 4 speed, well now its gonna be a Tremec 5 speed. Did I mention that im changing the sidepipes that I just put on less than a year ago from Patriots to Hookers also. Oh by the way, this is all on the same car within the last 2 years! Yea and thats just some of it!! HELP ME PLEASE!

Default Update!!

Ok....hired a local tow company to come and pickup the Jeep, and drive it over and swap it out for the Vette. Everything actually went very smoothly....until I got it home. We have a gnarley gutter curb thingy right in front of the driveway, and we were pushing the car (trying to do it at an angle. Yeah right.) up into the driveway...when the exhaust bottomed out and folded the rear pipes and mufflers up into a ball! Arrgh!! Apparently the exhaust pipes were only slid into the front pipes, and they came out when it hit the curb....and PRESTO...ball-o-mufflers. I was NOT pleased when that happened, but I suppose it's nothing too serious. It needed new exhaust anyways, but that always sucks when a "I should replace that"...turns into a "FRICK! I HAVE to replace that! ". Such is life I suppose. If it weren't for the fact that it's like 10 degrees out there right now, I'd be out there tonight....but.....my own mufflers are frozen right now. My ears are all red and hot , and feel like they are on fire.

Anyways, the girl is home, safe and sound. :o
