Default Need help to decoding numbers - PS pump and steering box

Hi!

Please can someone help me to identify some numbers.

Power steering pump:
028BL0 or 028BU0...difficult to read
028 28th January
B ????
L or U ????
0 1970?

steering box:

9 13
78022..

and the tag: 240 9 6

you can find an image at: http://members.inode.at/587867/sbox.jpg

Would be happy when somebody would know more about these numbers.

Thanks a lot

Peter

Hi Peter,
I'm sorry but I can't help.
I will mention that the info you give is on the lid for the steering box, not the box itself. I believe the long number is the casting number and the other info may be mold identification.
Perhaps someone else will pipe-up!
Regards,
Alan

"B" might possibly indicate second shift. "L" could be a plant code.

Best I can come up with is the tag on the steering box is from a rebuilder. The numbers of the cover are casting numbers, no date code present. No info on the pump at all.

Sorry.

Hi Mike!

Thanks a lot for your help. Have found something about the pump and other steering components. It is a page from Jim Shea, lots of informations about steering components there.
