Hey Rob that is looking very nice. Should make quite a bit of difference in the noise level after all the work. I assume you went with an aftermarket AC since you are pointing out the new AC vents. I like the idea and may someday do this to mine. Is that your stock center console with a set of vents you put in it? Did you cut the opening for the vents?

Eddie,

Went with Vintage Air system. I went with an aftermarket bezel because #1 mine was broken, and #2, I wanted a cutout for a new stereo (DIN sized). I sourced the A/C vent from ebay from an A/C car. The vent provided in the Vintage Air kit was a small single vent, plastic, and very cheap looking. I had to do a little fabricating (meaning Bubba) to connect the Corvette double vent to the Vintage Air ducting, but it doesnt show and will do the job. Involved some duct tape! I also sacrificed the rear of the V/A vent (cut with a Dremel) to fabricate the duct connection.

The A/C vent fits right in the bezel, but a non A/C car (like mine was) doesnt have some of the mounting points for the vent, so I had to improvise somewhat. Its very doable, and I really like the look of the double Corvette vent.

Duct tape is perfectly allowed since you are working with air ducts.

Very nice work. I hope you don't mind that I am going to use your pics as a guide to doing ours. It looks like we both started out in the same condition. I just haven't started the reassembly yet.

Looks great.

Glenn,

Not exactly... I put a couple of small dents in the SS T-top trim piece (T-shaped piece) so I ran it back to the chromer-polisher and he fixed it for me (for free!!)

All that is left is installing that piece, then getting the windshield put in, then the side and top ss trim.

So still a ways to go.

Looks great! What did you use to get the 200 to lock up? I'm getting ready to do the same install on my '71, and haven't been able to decide between an electric lock and a variable pressure lock... hoping you can shed some light on your decision

It has an electric lock up. I haven't used it yet as the car isn't on the road for a couple more months (I work REALLY slowly!). The shop that built up my transmission will set it all up when I am done. I am wondering where to mount the lockup switch. I haven't crossed that bridge yet.

Any ideas??

Well, you're a long way ahead of me! I hope to start on mine later this week... There are a few here who have done the electric switch and have mounted it in quite a few places. Some hidden, some not. I didn't want any switch at all, and that's why I was leaning towards an adjustable pressure switch. Might take more fiddling with, but there wouldn't be a visible switch anywhere. And I also thought about the times I might slow without hitting the brakes, which would leave the converter locked... If the pressure would change, the pressure switch would unlock the converter in that instance. But I haven't heard anything about performance using one of those. Decisions, decisions. Did you add a/c or just the duct and outlets? I'm planning on adding the whole a/c unit...another can of worms
