I use the specified AC plugs in mine and have had no problems for the last 2 years...so i'm curious as to how/why your fouling them out so quick?
What symptoms are you having before you feel it's time to change plugs? What do the plugs look like when you pull them?
Basically it sounds like you have more going on than you think...there should be no way your running through 2-3 sets of plugs a year...and to get plat tip plugs, well that's just throwing money to the wind until you find out what's going on...but i'm not a big fan of them anyway.
My guesstimate would be carb tuning and/or ignition problem.
what does "going through them" mean? Depending on what they look like will tell you the problem with your engine. Post some picks of them if you have any...
The plugs should last much much longer. Platinum plugs are not the quick fix. You need to fix the problem that is causing the fouling of the plugs, not just keep changing them. This could cause damage to the engine. Plugs gapped correctly? Fuel mixture too rich? Oil blow-by in the cylinders? A Chilton's manual has a section showing various basic spark plug problem conditions.
If you are burning the tips off of them, you need cooler plugs, your carb is running too lean, or you need to fix your ignition problems. Put new plugs in, run the car on the highway for a bit, then pull one plug and see what it 'tells' you. Fix appropriate problem depending on the tip condition/color you find.
