I have the opposite problem. My high beam indicator is very bright, but the rest of the bulbs are dim or out! lol Oh yeah, the seat belt light is bright too. It always comes on when I use the headlights...

when I had my dash apart fixing the heater ducting issues, I studied closely the wiring diagram and the wires themselves... take a hour or so to study the wiring diagram and you will easilly see how it all works and where the indicator is....
it is usually the bulb or the bulb is pulled out of its socket... easy fix but you have to have pretzel fingers to get up there it and get to it..
the assembly manual and the wiring diagram are your 2 best friends for your corvette..
I'm going through the same problem at the moment. I could not get my hand far enough behind the dash to replace the bulb without taking anything out. The left side of the dash needs to come out, and to do that the steering colunm needs to come out. I am going to replace all my dash bulbs with long life LED ones so I dont have to do this ever again (I hope).

My 1974 the steering column did not have to come out. Just take the two bolts holding the column in front out and let it drop down. You should be able to take dash out. Remember the top dash must be removed as well.

Oh, that gives me a bit more hope. So how do you remove the top dash?
You have to remove the pads from the side pillars. And then you remove the screws angled into the upper dash pad from the front dash all the away across. Then you can slide the upper dash up and out. But be careful with the upper dash pad as it may be brittle. Don't get with rough with it or push too hard around speaker holes in the upper dash pad . Treat it with kid gloves. Once it is removed you can take your front dash out. If you take the center bezel out for the guages be careful with it as well. As it is a thin piece as well. Also be gentle with the vents on the front dash as the plastic behind it is flimsy at best. It is not as bad as it seems , but you don't want to do this every day either. Also it helps to have room temperature to handle the parts. Remember some of these parts are plastic and 30 years old. Also while your at it look in the catalogs of corvette parts, and buy the bulb kit. Replace every bulb under there if your going dash surfing. Some guys use led's, but I heard you might have trouble with the dimmer. Also if your dimmer is bad replace the light switch as well. You won't have a better time to so this than when you have the dash out.

Thank you so much for the detailed info, that is going to be my boxing day project, new bulbs all round
Interesting about the LED bulbs, I live quite close to an auto store, so I may get one, see if it works with the dimmer and if so, go back and get a bunch, if not go for OEM ones. Thanks again for the info.
