Default cabin light questions

IS there a way to make the cabin light stay on longer? Also, is there a way to turn it on while your in the car? So far my cabin light only comes on after you turn the engine off and for about 5 seconds. I don't even know where to start on figuring this out... any help?

This is on a 80 vette

the light should come on when you open either door. and turn off when both doors are closed. on the light switch if you turn the dial to the right that should turn the dimmer switch and when you here a click it should turn the lights on until you turn the switch

Tried what you said. Does not work. The lights only come on after you turn the engine off. I am baffled! Any ideas of what I should do?

Also, the dimmer does work on the dash but won't turn the dome light on lol.

This is correct for an '80; courtesy lights come on when the ignition is turned off and key is removed. The lights are timed and will remain on for a short period after you exit the car.

Courtesy lights should also come on when either door is opened.

Turning the light switch **** will turn them on in the car.

Sounds like you need a replacement light switch.
