Here is the scuzzy, nasty, gross engine....I will go to war on it or just swap in a BB,

I never liked Chevy orange for engines...sure it rocks for people wanting stock original but I dig mod so I always paint the block black....geez the cars not even here yet...

Hey..check out the groovy wire nut on the Alt....

Sheesh....yours is ultra-clean, compared with what I got when I bought my 76 project! You want to talk about NASTY!!! Here you go!!

Here's a neat one....the electric fan is grounded on one of the brackets, with NO wire nuts at all! Just a stripped wire wrapped around metal.

I used POR manifold paint. It's better than the Calyx or any other rub on stuff.

Bats,
Congratulations!
Can't wait to see more pics of the car and all the mods that are about to come.

Forget the war just put a big block in it. A Mako needs a big block.

The high temp spray will come off.

I always use Eastwood's Stainless Steel coating. Its fantastic. You can brush it on, and when it gets hot and cools, it flattens out into a beautiful finish.

The one that I was talking about is not a spray. It's a brush on paint.
It was little glossy when I painted it, but after a few weeks it cured into a natural look.
I painted the manifolds only last year. Hope it stays on longer.

There is a lot of talent here, great looking engine bays guys.
Here is mine.
I didn't take pics. of the engine compartment when I got the car. This is a pic. of the engine after I cleaned it with engine in.

My wife and I pulled the engine on a fairly warm and rainy day in Feb. 08

Help from my friends, in my vette club. A very hot August day in 08. What a great club.

Ok, so here's a rather dumb question that ya'll can help me out with. Do you do the engine compartment before or after the bodywork is done? Kind of seems like there are plusses and minuses to both. If you do the engine compartment BEFORE, then you don't have to worry about scratching up the paint or getting overspray on it while you are doing the work. If you do it AFTER you paint it, then you don't have to worry about sanding dust, particles, and just generally a lot of crap all over the newly painted engine bay. I'm in a position to go either way, and I'm leaning more towards doing theengine bay first. Thoughts here??
