My '71 LT-1 does not have power steering or power brakes. I'm looking at another '71 LT-1 that has both PS and PB...was this offered on the LT-1 cars?
Most of these cars i've seen have not had PS or PB. Other tell tale signs of LT-1 are there (still in the process of verifying though) and was wondering about this.
LT-1's could be ordered with all the normal amenities in all 3 years. Early '70 models originally were built with a larger oil pan capacity and therefore could not be ordered with PS, but that changed during the year to allow this option as well. Other exception was A/C not allowed until later in the '72 model year. I believe these were the two exceptions, and they were for only part of each model year.
Hi,
I also believe that only a 4 speed transmission was available with the LT-! option.
Regards,
Alan
PS: Few people realize part of the LT-! option was a heavy duty spring on the ash tray door to keep it from sliding open during off road acceleration contests.
Search LT-1 in the forum and the C3 for sale. Lots of good info on identifying a real LT-1. As stated above, no auto, no p/s on early 70, and no a/c until 72. Otherwise you could get pretty much what you wanted, although I believe most came with M21 and without comfort options such as p/s, p/b, power windows, etc.
