Default Bubbles in paint

My power steering sprung a leak and blew fluid all under the hood. A week or so later I noticed bubbles developing in the paint on the hood. I'm going to get the hood repainted and there is a hood mat underneath, but does anyone know if there is anything in the paint prep or anything else I can do to prevent this from happening again in the future?
Thanks and HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone,
Bill

I hate to say it, but you 'may' need a new hood. It will be very difficult getting the contamination out of the fiberglass to the point where it won't bubble after repainting.

I just went through this in the summer, and basically it took almost 2 weeks of consistently putting a heat lamp on the contaminated area, to bake out the chemicals and wiping the fiberglass on the inside and out often until I reached a point where the primer/paint would stick without bubbling.

And depending on the severity, the fiberglass may just be unsalvagable.

If you do a search in the paint & body section for bubbling paint you'll see what a pain it can be and different approaches people took to remedy it.

If you're going to have the hood repainted; then make sure that the painter knows of the problem. There are enough chemicals to remove the contamination and with a proper sealer the body shop will be able to guarantee no-bleed through. Make sure your painter or shop will guarantee the work, or you may be re-painting that hood down the road.
