Default outside replacement door handles

Has anybody used/ installed the replacement door handles from Ecklers? they are only $30.00 and Im not concerned with original parts but I am concerned with proper fitting. I just wanted to see if anyone has used them and see how well they fit in place and functioned.

They are a bit of a "*****" to change out...I spent the extra and hopefully wont have to do it again..

Heard many bad things about the $30 ones...

Ecklers sells two grade levels.
The cheep china repops are $30.
The better GM quality repops are like $70 ea.

I spoke to the sales guy there and he suggested not buying the china ones due to quality unless you have a beater and just need a functioning door. I ordered out the GM level $70 handles and am very happy. Fit and function are very good. Chrome is perfect.

I remember I got them for a little cheaper (maybe $65 or so) from Willcox.

Hi P9
The cheaper handles I've looked at don't have very good chrome plating and the 'flapper' isn't cut very well. There are ueven gaps between the 'flapper' and the 'skirt' that surrounds it.
Regards,
Alan

The first picture is the made in China one. The one below it is the GM handle. Note how much better the contour of the handle follows the housing on the GM part. The made in China part is functional, but fit and finish is poor. The chrome is scratched already on the China part and the GM part is the original 78' and still looks good. The China one is 2 years old.

This post came at the right time, as I was thinking about changing both of my handles. I saw there was a big cost difference from different suppliers. I know now which ones to buy, and it isn't going to be the cheap ones!

I have no first hand experience with the China made ones, but 4 years ago when it was time for the same thing on mine, I opted for the most expensive ones based on the same advice given above. I have no regrets 4 years later, and mine still look brand new and function perfect.

My husband was told the non-GM door handles are crap. He bought the GM driver's door handle for me, it was $230.00 and the passenger is no longer available from GM.

Just to add my .02, I went with the GM instead of the cheapos for the same reasons above. When I took mine out I knew how much of a PIA it would be to replace them, and didn't want to do it again. After 4 years of no problems, and still great looking chrome, I am glad I went that route.

I had purchased a nose flag emblem and gas cap emblem from two different companies, both were supposed to be US made. After two years, the one on the gas cap had faded and the paint in the flags started popping out. I called the vendor (always keep your receipt!!) and they replaced it no charge. They said their vendor screwed them as they were supposed to get all US made, and found out their vendor bought Chinese made parts. They had lots of returns.

Chinese=cheap price AND poor quality parts PERIOD.

Don't get the cheap ones. They sag and don't stay up even with the door and there is a larger gap around the handle.
