That is most likely the reason the jack is on the right side and battery on the left !! And it makes lots of sense from a safety point!!

I've been thinking about moving my battery too
After reading the replies, I have to ask .....
(As mine's right hand drive) what does that do for the critical weight distribution mentioned in earlier posts??.
