1971 Corvette Front Side Marker Lights
I was looking at my side marker light before reinstalling it and I noticed a bunch of silcone sealer on it. Further investigation shows that someone has removed the plastic lens at some point. So, I popped out the lens and I found this aluminum reflector inside of the lens. But somehow it doesn't seem right to me. The inside of the housing is chromed so why would there have to be an additional reflector?
Is this some sort of add-on or aftermarket piece that someone installed? The lens seems to fit a lot nicer without the aluminum piece.
Anyone ever heard of this?

When I bought an extra OEM set some time ago, one assembly had a loose lens ... so I took it apart and found the reflector that you are describing.
So I think the reflector is OEM. Why is it there? I'm guessing it may have something to do with the rectangular hole in the middle ... but not sure.
Hope this helps.
