I am getting ready to sell my 68 when the snow melts. I need to know how much to ask? Can I get some honest pricing for this original L79 numbers matching Corvette? She has around 74,000 original miles. Never in any accident and retains all the original body panels. The frame was taken to a shop and had it blasted, zinc rich epoxy primed then baked in a oven for three hours and then top coated with urethane enamel and baked again for six hours. The L79 is the 327/350 H.P. optioned car with power steering. All fiber optics are intacked and work. Bought from the second owner that had it sitting since the early 80’s It still has all the original interior except for the carpet. Everything mechanically is brand new on this car and drives like a dream. It is always in heated storage and never been washed or seen rain since the frame off restoration. The removable hard top is original and never been mounted after restoration (I believe one of three hundred with black vinyl top). All brake and gas lines are stainless steel from Classic Tube. The original carburetor was restored by Chicago Corvette. The complete fuel system is brand new from tank to carb. The complete drive train was rebuilt. The only thing that is not correct is the color. Originally it was maroon, now it has the 50th anniversary Corvette red using Duponts chroma premier paint products. I have the original dealer brochure and owners manual. Take a look and give me your thoughts.

Only suggestion: I would get rid of the non-original valve-covers and oil-fill cap and replace them with the factory-type pieces. They stand out on a car that is otherwise so original in appearance.
If you want to sell quick, ask $25,000.
If you want to sell it for what it's worth, ask $35,000, but be prepared to wait.
That is the original build number on the pass side firewall. It is located in the engine compartment. It is still there after the restoration as documentation because it was not painted from the factory there.

Tom, Beautiful 68 L79 convertible. The color looks good but color changes don't help the price. From the pics and your description I would say somewhere in the $30,000 ballpark give or take a couple grand either way. Not a great time to sell but, good luck with your sale .
Hi Tom,
Have you thought about having the car judged (if it hasn't been)? Having an award, from even a Chapter level Event, would add to the value of the car and put some less knowlegable buyer's minds at ease.
Th paint change alone shouldn't stop it from being a Top Flight car if the rest of the car judges well.
Pretty looking car!!!!!
Regards,
Alan
I would like to thank all of you for your honesty and compliments. This is why I asked this forum. I have not had it judged because they are to far away from me. I live in a suburb of Buffalo. If anyone has a thought let me know.
