tail light problem!!

tail light problem!!

Ok so I have a little problem, my 77 has a right rear tail light out. I know this sounds simple but I replaced the bulb and it has a new pigtail on it. It works when I am using the blinker and brake light but it wont come on when the headlights are on. any thoughts?

I assume that the left tail light is working? Bulb #1157 has two filaments and two buttons on the bottom of base? Turn signal and brakes use one filament, tail lights use other. Poss. bad bulb, bad connection in base of socket, broken wire to socket. Ck. that first. mds...

Check it for 12volts and then check and test the ground.

I have switched the bulbs from left and right side, still have tail on left and none on right

I agree test with test light/meter rather than guessing. Had the same problem turned out to be a bad connection at the socket. Something you may not see.
