Sounds like a nice car. Hope it works out for you. Something caught my eye. I have a 69 L46 with the smog pump which I removed years ago. Does the 69 have that solenoid to the right side of the intake manifold that keeps you from getting full advance in 1st and 2nd gear? I would assume it would reduce performance. I don't have the dashpot or charcoal canister and I believe I don't have a sealed gas cap. I didn't know GM put them on a 1970 Vette.

There was no smog pump/AIR installed on the '70s even though the '69 had it.
Only LT-1 had a smog pump.
As far as the expansion tank, some L-46's have them, other's not.
Looks like this one did not, as I didn't see any holes for where it would have been mounted.
The solonoid is called the TCS switch, Transmission Controlled Spark. You can see it just a bit under the air cleaner in this pic.

IIRC, TCS was new for '70, then it went to something else for '71, and came back for the '72 model year.

I see the car on the 1970 Corvette Registry. Mine is 4269, built a week before this one.

Mark; If you are looking for originality, also check the carburetor and alternator numbers. 1100900 alternators are hard to find, and can be very spendy. Your carburetor should be 7040207(federal), if the sticker is correct. These are also hard to find and pricey. Don't be surprised to find late '69 date codes with this early car.

Mark......

Have you seen this 350 4 speed red/red 1972 Vert in Seattle ? Don't know the car, but I've bought Porsches from the guy who actually owns the dealership, and can vouch for his integrity.

Great looking L-46

Lots of good info given.(you guys have good eyes). To nitpick.... the throttle return spring is in the wrong location.(although that is a popular spot to attach it. I mention that because looking at the hard line of the brake vacuum tube it isn't attached to the bracket that mounts to the right rear carb stud. See photo....

As someone mentions the washer pump is repop'd....

I just spoke with Darren, and I am meeting with him tomorrow morning to look at the car. Unfortunately the car has had a color change (was originally white), and needs a few minor things. It is still what I am looking for, but it will need to be a good amount lower than $30k (compared with the 1970 I am looking at)

Thanks again

My two cents is that for 30k it should be NCRS correct in most if not all ways with this C3 market.

The Master Cylinder is not original for one. I would definitely check out the carb as it is a very expensive one to locate as well as the alternator.

I really think 30k is way too high in this market even for a red/red 70 vert. 25-26k tops unless the car has top flighted and has original POP and other original documentation.

I own a 70 vert and am very familiar with them.

Good to know! From a lot of what I had seen $30k seemed to be around the mark, but I will do some more searching for comparable prices.

Thanks

For what it's worth, I sold my 1st day production (#131) '70 for $24,500 and gave a $750 commission out of that back ~2002. It was a 350/350 roadster with AM/FM radio, 3.70:1 posi, P/S, P/W, protecto-plate, original owners manual (no air, no P/B). I was the second owner and restored it to a 95+ point NCRS Top Flight car. The car now resides in Christchurch, NZ and the owner is a Forum Member.

The car was a "hard sell" because it was grn/grn and no one wanted the combination. The car was sold to a Japanese consortium and shipped overseas. (I've had three cars go to the Japanese.) They like green cars and don't care for red cars because "the red cars are all repaints" from other colors."

Five years later they sold it to the member in Christchurch. Had it of been red, I probably could have gotten ~$27-$30K and it would have been an easier sell.
