If this is all you know about the car, then it's not enough to say it's a good deal. For that price, that should be the MOST EXCEPTIONAL '76 in existence, and you must REALLY want a '76.

If it is, and that's what you want, then it's acceptable, but not a great deal.

Original engine? $13K sounds a little high.

Good reading here. Worth the cost of a copy.

i dont know if that to high or not. need more info how is the paint interior is the car in very good condition, where no work is going to be needed. i always say why buy a car for 5-6 thousand and then put another 5-6 thousand in paint +. then ur at 10-12 thousand, and the rest of the things u need to do, another 2-3 thousand it adds up quick. at $13,000 for a low milage car it might not be a bad buy after u do the math

Whether or not its a good deal depends a lot on how close it is to your ideal car. After months of looking for a 78 or 79 I found one in Arizona for $7000 that seemed pretty nice but thousands of miles away and another for $12000 that was close by. The Arizona car looked like a much better deal initially, but it was going to cost me $2000 to look at it and another $2000 to ship it home. I wanted a car with oyster interior and glass t-tops, the Arizona car had black interior and fiberglass t-tops. To get what I wanted the Arizona car would have cost $11,000 plus aprox $5000 for new oyster interior and glass t-tops. It was no contest I bought the $12000 car close buy that was everything I wanted in a Corvette except a purple or hot pink exterior - that I can do myself for $500-1000.

If its exactly what you're looking for in a car and isn't too far away its worth considering further. If it doesn't meet all or most of the criteria for what you want in a car then keep looking.

I think the price is too high for a run of the mill '76. This car is neither rare nor exceptionally sought after. The only way it could be worth that much is if it is 100% original and has been meticulously maintained. No rust, no leaks, no wear showing anywhere.

Thank you guys for helping me .

Original engine?
Yes , Original engine .

how is the paint interior is the car in very good condition, where no work is going to be needed.
Paint is excellent , no work need to be done to the car .

why it has ( I believe ) a 77 front emblem on it?
I asked him but he doesn't know why the previous owner changed it out.

@ Priya :

The location of the car is pretty close to me , 20 minutes away by car .

So guys , The car is in very good condition. No work is going to be needed to the car. To get the car to excellent condition then one would want to perhaps order and install new seats and side panels. However the existing seats and side panels are in very good condition.

The car is well maintained , no rust , no leaks .

So , what is the fair price for this vette ?

I bet you could talk him down to 11-12k. Looks like a pretty nice car.
Good luck

I would start @ 9K and stop at 10K....CASH! There are simply too many nicer cars on the market today and more coming to market.. in the very near future. But, pay what you feel comfortable with and within your means. Once its yours, its yours and then the fun really begins and so does the extra outlay of monies! Good luck with your negotiations, and let us know what the out come is.

Stay in tune...

If everything works (test it all...interior components, headlights, accessories, drive it, get under it), it doesn't have significant rusting, and the paint/body is in great condition, $11-12K is not out-of-line. I sure wouldn't offer more than $10K to start.

I've seen a couple of 78's with 25,000 miles go for 15000 in pretty short order. If the car is in like new condition 13,900 probably isn't unreasonable but there's a good chance you could get it for a couple thousand less. Once again, the deciding factor should be is this exactly what you want in a Corvette or very close to it. If it is then you might be wise to buy it and pay more rather than find at later date you can't find one that meets all your criteria.
