Default New Guy

Hello,

New guy here in Lauderdale, just sold my 69 Z and looking to get back into a C3, I have owned two in the past a 78 and 72.

I actually have an opportunity to buy a recently restored '71, Green with black interior, PS, PB, PW, AT and A/c. Everything works, sitting in a warehouse waiting to be driven.

Can anyone tell me what the car might be worth (in todays economy of course), I don't have any pics but again, it's next to perfect. Not the dark green, it's more of a lighter green.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Andrew

Need more info. Big block or small? Engine option? Original or replacement drivetrain? "Frame off" restored or "frame on"? What documentation comes with the car, and who did the resto............. etcetera.

Thanks Guys,

The car has been owned by the same guy for 15 years, it went through a complete restoration, pretty much everything was replaced or rebuilt. It has the matching numbers 350 engine in it, new leather interior not vinyl, was originally vinyl of course. All documentation is with the car, protecto plate, build sheet, etc.

He's asking $20k.

Not unreasonable; possibly a little on the high side; worth going and taking a closer look.

Good luck.

Thanks!

Do you think it's a good deal at $14k? Oh 58k miles on the car, total.

Are the '71's worth less than the '72's, because they are kind of an in between year?

Sorry for asking what maybe I should know, but I have been out of the Corvette market for a while.

Sounds like it, but I haven't seen the car. $14K is a heckuva lot better than $20K.

No. Nothing in between about a '71. My fiancee has a nice '71 convertible.

Hi DDY,
You mentioned the interior... leather trim (custom) was an option in 71 model cars. The trim tag on the driver's side hinge pillar will tell you what the original interior was.

Alan

Thanks Alan,

Depending on whether the guy is negotiable on the price or not I am going to go down and get some pictures in order to get whomever would like to give their opinion here on the forum.

I want to think the owner said it was originally vinyl though, but I will get a picture of the trim tag as well.

Thanks again.

Trim tag will have 400 if originally black vinyl, 403 if black leather.
