Default Grease for tach/speedo cables?

Anybody have a go to grease to help with bouncing tach or speedometer needles?

I recently picked up one of these:
http://www.mamotorworks.com/corvette-4-327-1170.html

I'm thinking general purpose type grease is too viscous, and white lithium grease is the way to go. Can't seem to find any tubes of white lithium to put in a grease gun for the fitting adapter I bought.

Squirting grease into the cable casing is NOT the way to go. You can remove the cable from the casing [difficult] and put a light wipe of lithium grease on it...OR...many suggest using a dry lubricant like graphite on it. If you put a significant amount of grease in the casing, the cable will bind up as the grease dries out and gets sticky.

I've used the graphite with success.

if its jumping badly, you might want to pull it out, look for kinks, and look for places in the cable covering for warn through spots.

Removing the cable from the casing and rubbing it down, or spraying some graphite into the ends?

I guess you'd say I did more of a rub down method, during which inspecting for any kinks, but I wouldn't load it to excess.
