LT1 distributor question

Default LT1 distributor question

Was transitor ignition optional on the LT1?

I was looking at a distributor for an LT1 and I found one coded 1111496 which, according to the listings in the attached chart, is the code for a 1970 370 HP 350 which I had thought only was offered in the LT1 in 70. It is a points distributor.

Distributor 1111971 is listed for a 70 370 hp 350 with TI

My question is – was TI an option that you could refuse on the LT1 and if not what would this distributor been used in?

Thanks Alan. This is for a 70. According to the chart - and the numbered distributor I found - it is for a 1970 350 370 hp. That is where I am confused as I thought only the LT1 had 370hp and they were all TI distributors but apparently not. So does that mean you could buy an LT1 with a points distributor in 70?

All Corvette LT-1s in 70 and 71 came with TI. 72 did not.

70 and 71 all LT1s came with the TI ignition. 72 was a points dist no TI was used.

Thanks guys maybe I am asking this wrong - what was distributor 1111496 used in? It shows up in the listings only under 70 Corvette 370 hp 350. What other car except the LT1 had that motor? If you look at the listing it looks like it has all other engines covered with another dist number and I know this dist exsists.

For the record I know my LT1 had TI as I can see where the box is attached.

Hi SPF, I don't know where they got their information from, but those distributor numbers don't seem to jive with the NCRS technical manual.
for 1970 LT-1 Dist #1111491 (TI) is correct
for 1971 LT-1 Dist #1112038 (TI) is correct
for 1972 LT-1 Dist #1112101 is correct
I couldn't find a listing for the 1111496 distribitor you mentioned, maybe it was a service replacement number, or maybe the information your source quoted was in error.

Thanks and maybe that is the right answer that the information source I am using is wrong. A link is listed in my first post and it seemed like a good source. It lists the distributor you mention as being in a 350HP 350. I have listed the info here but it is hard to read, the link is much easier and it is a pretty good article on Corvette distributors. they use MP as a code for TI.

Again thanks for all the info.
