I am looking to pick up a set of the offset trailing arms for my 73 rebuild. Are there differences between those available on the market or are they all from a single supplier? Good ones, bad ones (less gooder ones) that I should avoid? If a complete spindle assembly is bought, is it a simple matter of just bolting it to the trailing arm or is there more involved with setting them up? thanks for all your input, it's greatly needed and appreciated!
I don't know if the Chinese/foreign makers have picked up on repopping the trailing arms or not. But you would do best to stay with an American supplier and ask them where they were manufactured and by whom. Trailing arms are a 'working' part and need to be made of good quality materials, be heat-treated properly, and be dimensionally correct. Don't skimp on cost when buying these kinds of parts....you'll regret it -- eventually.
I went to Van Steel I just sent it to them and they built the rear end, changed the gear ratio, and rebuilt the posi, and the rear spindels were cleaned and new bearings and then were installed into the trailing arms.( the spindels have to be set up like a rear end does so I let them do that) I installed it when it came back to me. I think the new trailing arms are even better they have brackets for coil over shocks and that would be more adjustable if you autocross it best advice build like your going to use it! table.
