Default 73 coupe with blue engine

Any ideas. Why would a 73 corvette with matching numbers have the engine painted blue. I thought that year were all orange. T:ohis is a standard 350 L48

Maybe the owner had the engine rebuilt and grabbed the wrong paint can? Or, preferred Blue, as opposed to Orange? Who know's????

Are you absolutely sure this is a correct engine....how about a photo of the stamp pad...or just the numbers off of it? One thing is for sure...it didn't leave the factory like that!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stay in tune...

The block which came with my 1977 which has the correct VIN derivative on it is black. I suspect a PO hated blue?

The guy who built the SB for my 74 painted it blue because he had a 77 and thought they were all blue

Chevrolet changed engine colors in 1977 to GM corporate blue due to the fact that Chevrolet engines were showing up in Oldsmobile's and they needed to have a and standard engine painted the same color.

Repainted by a PO at some point. Scratch around and you might find orange under the blue.
