Maybe the owner had the engine rebuilt and grabbed the wrong paint can? Or, preferred Blue, as opposed to Orange? Who know's????
Are you absolutely sure this is a correct engine....how about a photo of the stamp pad...or just the numbers off of it? One thing is for sure...it didn't leave the factory like that!!!!!!!!!!!!

maybe the last owner forgot they owned a chevy...not a ford!

The guy who built the SB for my 74 painted it blue because he had a 77 and thought they were all blue
Chevrolet changed engine colors in 1977 to GM corporate blue due to the fact that Chevrolet engines were showing up in Oldsmobile's and they needed to have a and standard engine painted the same color.
