Maybe because the C1 and C2 never paced the Indy 500. The first Corvette to pace Indy was the C3.
The C3 paced the Indy 500 once (1978) , C4's twice (1986, 1995). The C5 did it in 1998, 2002, and 2004. The C6 did it in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008. Three C5's and four C6's would have cluttered up the shirt.

Did not know that, I wonder why they put two C4's and not two of either the C5 or the C6 ? thanks for the info.
