Is there some "Area 51" on GM property where they are hiding these convertibles to force us into this modification ???? How do these purists feel about bolting up a 76-82 nose/tail and updating the interior so we have an "original"?? How will THAT effect their holy grail of value???
If you want to talk numbers, I'd argue the price delta of a 68-75 ragtop compared with a bubba'd 76-82 that you "convert" would be close and if properly done, would be more desired............................
Look at the original post, Dude. The guy asks about a "standard C3". No mention of year. Maybe you should read these things before you make a fool of yourself. I'm not "oblivious" to the fact that roadsters were unavailable in C3s for '76-'82. This is about opinions, right. I'm pragmatic and consider both my time and money very dear. In my opinion, it's a foolhardy exercise.

Whew...some good points spewed in anger,
I never missed that fact that no 76-82 C3's were factory Convertibles,
With the exception of a year on a vin the visual differences between a 74 and a 75-77 is small...and since the 74 IS available as a factory convertible....

I being a person into modded cars also know that it really doesn't matter who built it ( of course a hack the top off Bubba special will be avoided ) or how nice it is a 76-82 Aftermarket convertible will have a smaller resell potential than if the car was stock and a coupe in the same otherwise condition...remember all the posts in other threads saying how much more popular coupe are that convertibles anyway,...but wait Convertibles fetch more...hum.

The short lived "trend" of 80-82 style Convertibles being made by shops in the day ran dry fast, but was kind of neat...
For me and I believe others motivation behind turning a humdrum coupe into a Convertible is we already had the donor and the donor wasn't some NCRS car,

I greatly admire the people who have made it happen.....When I looked into it, it simply would not have been worth both my time and money proven by the fact I bought a 69 Convertible cheap,

Rereading my post, i see where my frustration came thru as anger..........not intended

Ravine I apologize
NONE of us here in C3 should allow ourselves to discuss our obsession with these "money pits" using the words investment or value.
1. investment: you're never gonna get back what you dump into it
2. value is sujective and (as we have seen with the recent recession): a fickle bitch

PEACE
