Default Another wheel question

ok so i've been reading alot of the threads on wheel size that have been posted lately. but honestly, i have no idea what any of the size types mean with the exception of width and rim size. what i really want to know it what size wheels will i need to shop for for my 76? and if i get a larger size than 15" will that change my need for backspacing or offset or?

Oh boy here we go. What are you looking to do? 15X8 with a 4" backspace and a 27" tall tire is "stock". Do you want the same size front and rear? Do you want a staggered fit (wider in the back or even taller)? Do a search using "17s" and "18s". There is LOTS of reading. Get an idea what you want then post back and the suggestions will be more specific and ultimately more usefull. It may not be a bad idea to give us an idea what the budget is also. There are literally 1000s of choises and combinations.

i really like the style of the torque thrust II's. the budget for rims is probably around $600. hopefully i can stretch it. i would like to go 1"-2" at the most size difference between the front and the back. i would like the tires all the way around to sit as flush as possible with the edge of the fenders. currently it has a good set of the original rims with the beauty rings. i just want a change. i know sometimes when you go to a rim shop they'll sell you anything without knowing if they're would be clearance issues.

Are you saying you want to go wider in the back like 8s in the front and 9s in the back or do you mean 17s in the front and 18s in the back? If you're looking to do 17s with rims and tires you are going to have to increase your budget unless you're looking for used. Consider sticking with what you have and hold off to save some more money so you can get something you'll be happy with. If you like TTIIs you can custom order what you really want. What do you think?

I am looking to go like 18s in the rear and 17s in the front and the width to be what it would take to achieve flush with the outside of the fenders. the budget is in regaurds to just the rims. this isn't a 'today' purchase of anything, just trying to plan ahead. right now the its in the middle of a frame off reso that will hopefully be done in the next couple of weeks. hell my girlfriend and i are still at odds over what color it will eventually be painted.

OK so are we looking at 17x8 with 4" backspace and a 245/45 tire in the front and a 18x9.5 in the rear with a 5" backspace and a 275/40 tire? If so the budget needs to triple or so.

thats the question i'm looking to answer. i have no idea of backspacing, offset, or any of those type of requirements for rims to fit right on the corvette. i read so much about clearance issues, i just want to make sure i avoid those. especially if i order from a site or magazine. thanks for your input. i'm thinking a 4" backspacing will clear in the front and a 5" in the rear.
