Mine is doing the same thing. I just put a new headlight switch in mine and the courtesy lights won't turn off either with the doors shut, so I just took the bulbs out for now. Don't have time to deal with it right now but if I get time and fix it, I will let you know. It seems like the new switch is grounding out somehow since the lights come on when they are grounded. There is no problems with my door switches.
I bought a replacement light switch from Auto Zone a while back because the wire in the ceramic stator on my original had fried (no dimming, no interiors). I installed it and now suddenly nothing worked, not even the main lights. Turns out the new switch itself was defective, essentially shorting itself out because the copper tabs on the slide that make contact with the buttons connected to the spades were not installed well. If I hadn't known everything else was good I would have started digging to find the "real cause" of the problems. Ultimately I cobbled parts together from the replacement and orignal switch to make one that worked great, still going strong.

When in doubt buy good parts...
I bought mine from Bair's Corvette so I'm sure it is probably something else. I don't buy much of anything from Auto Zone or Advance . Most of the time when you do you have to take it back at least once. Napa is better quality but I still buy through the corvette suppliers since they are usually a direct fit.

Hmmm. Perhaps the copper tab that makes contact with the switch frame when you turn the rheostat all the way to the click position is bent and making full contact all the time?
