So I found out the other day that I have a small pinhole leak in my gas tank. Found this on ebay and was hoping for some insight from everyone. Everything looks to be a correct fit but wanted to double check. Also installation tips would be great, its not the first gas tank we put in, but its the first vette tank we will be putting in. Thanks! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...9#ht_500wt_810
....replace all the rubber lines while you're at it, plus there is a black plastic anti-rollover, anti-siphon valve on the driver's side of the fuel tank with a line going to the emissions canister. Gently disconnect this or the rubber lines attaching to the steel line because if you don't you will break the plastic nipples off!!! These are now being reproduced finally, but they weren't for the longest time. Still better if you do not break it at all!!!
How big is the 'pinhole'? Have you tried to repair it? Or is the leak you have found the 'tip of the iceburg'?
The eBay tank you referenced is less than half the price of most aftermarket suppliers. I'd have to question the quality of the metal and the type of corrosion resistance that was used [if any]. Do you want to take a chance with that tank for the savings of a couple tankfuls of gas?
7T1 - we can't quite tell, its right on the support on the bottom. As for the ebay tank, I asked some questions and they didn't reply about the corrosion resistance (so I am guessing no on that) but it is made from "zinc plate". Also if we go to repair it, we still have to remove the whole tank? If that is the case, I probably should just get a new one. lol
