Default Performance 15 inch tires

Seems you can't find high performance 15 inch tires to suit muscle cars?
Surely there must be enough demand?
Perhaps these types of forums sould lobby a manufacturer to produce a a small range of grippy high speed rated 15 inch tires for thoses whom wish to say with factory fitment rims?
Something is needed between the BFG style tire and full race radials.
Say 245 through 275 sizes

I think 15's are going the way of 13's & 14's. But Jegs & Summit both sell performance tires.

If Hoosiers are too racy for your needs I suggest looking into Avons.

Yes, hoosier are full track tires, we can't run them on the road here, and they don't last long plus they are over $400 ea.
I priced some Avon but they were I think from memory over $700 ea and not road legal.
Need a reasonably priced z rated tire

Haven't priced a set myself, but Avon CR6ZZ's are advertised as road legal.

Yes you are correct, thay do say road legal, will check the price, I think these are way up there.
Just reading some other forums reviews on these, saying they will do 10,000 miles of road use on a cobra

Would be nice if some one would produce a tire that would perform like a modern 17-18-19 inch in 15 inch and be in the same price bracket as high performance street tires

I win the Powerball and I'll have to see what I can do about that.

Sweet, sounds great.

I owned a Tire and Auto shop here in New Zealand.
Some of our suppliers would send a name brand tire to china, a chinese manufacture would R and D the tire ( rip off and duplicate) and produce a tire with your branding.
I am not saying that anyone would want a chinese produced tire on there muscle car, but you would think there would be enough demand from muscle car owners, that if a US manufacturer was to produce a high performance tire in larger sizes to suit 7-10 inch rims, that performed like a modern tire, there would be many takers? fill the gap between a BFG T/A type tire and a race tire.

There are none and there never will be now, the main reason I went to 18 inch rims and Ultra High Performance ZR rated Toyo T1R tires, they really make a difference in how the Vette handles, feels like a sports car now

Unfortunately the Vettes are losing their original wheels because of the lack of a great 15' tire. I like originality over custom rims so I'll take what I can get in the 15' market.

The best 15" tire is the Avon CR6ZZ at about $300 each. elle88 is running them on his clone.

Well, just got some pricing from our local supplier, Avons are indent order only, these are the prices he quoted

240/60VR15" Avon CR6 ZZ @ $663.75 each
275/55VR15" Avon CR6 ZZ @ $753.75 each

Plus $160 per tire freight.....

These tires sound like the performance deal in 15's but price is OTT for me.

Roger Krause Racing has the 245/60R15 for $356 US. Maybe they can work some kind of deal to ship to NZ.

Thanks for that, some times they will ship if there is a local distributor.
I was a Kuhmo tire dealer, I had V700 race tires on back order with NZ distributor for 5 month, ended up calling the tire rack, they had the set UPS over in 3 days, landed cheaper than my dealer cost!!!! how can that be!. Think the prices stem from the days before internet when importers charged what they liked as it was difficult to compair prices in other countries. Joys of living down under and owning american cars

Default Performance Tires

Check out tirerack.com. Any tire rated H or above should be good for most street use.

No H rated tires available in 15" sizes that fit right (generally 255/60R15).
