Default front clip got an idea

I think I can remove the front clip while attached to the firewal by drilling and chiseling the rivets. Then would be easier to put back on, no need to allighn fenders while glue drys. Has anyone done this? It should go on exactly like it came off using original rivit holes,no alighnment issues. Do you agree? Thankyou, Joe

Default clip

to remove firewall you would have to cut it loose from floor pans and a lot of other parts

Default clip

the only way I think you could make realignment easier is if your clip fits good before you pull it is to drill reference holes through the mounting points then when reattaching you could put rivets through these holes to hold it in place while glue dries.then drill out rivets you could use 1/4 x 1 inch aluminum split rivets.

You won't be able to do it without breaking and damaging something. Most people don't realize this.

Do it right - pull the clip off, then pull the firewall.

Won't work. There are bonding panels riveted to the firewall and birdcage which you cannot get to with the clip installed.

My advice is never to remove a factory installed clip if you do not have to. Does the clip absolutely positively have to come off? If not, leave it in place and save yourself the work of trying to rehang it.
