almost to the day, I ordered my 383 stroker short block from T & L Engine Development. 2 letters from my attorney and 4 from the N.C. Attorney Generals office and an 11 month wait but it is in the car and started up last week. The only problem I have is an oil leak. I used a one piece oil pan gasket with no sealer (per directions). Did anyone else have a problem with leaks? I used 10/30 oil for break in and have 55 psi oil pressure at idle, hot. Can I run 5/20 after break in? I always put cam break in additive in with the oil.

Sorry to hear about teh legal MESS you went thru. I uses a 1 piece and have had no leaks at all.
I did use some Copper RTV sealant at teh corners as I recall
Are you dead sure it's leaking from the oil pan gasket? I have a one-piece fel-pro and it's excellent. The oil leak I have is from the rear corners of the valve covers and it sure can look like it comes from the oil pan gasket...running the fingers under the rear lip of the valve covers will quickly tell you...and I used the insurance of copper rtv sealant at the corners as suggested by dmayhew.

I'll check the valve cover gaskets tomorrow. That's easier than dropping the pan. I did take the starter out and the back of the flywheel and inside of the bell housing are both dry so I'm pretty sure the rear main seal isn't leaking. Thanks for the idea.
