I kind of like it, really cool at night. The engine bay is all black, silver or chrome. It seemed to be too much black between the air cleaner and firewall, but I did not want to use any other colors. At the risk of getting flamed, what do you guys think?
I read somewhere (probably a Corvette or other car magazine) that the clear plastic resists carbon tracking better than the black ones. I guess that's why I have a blue one - but it's hidden under the shielding so nobody can see it.
It is a Mr. Gasket part # 1263c i think. Autozone and others have it, but are high, Jegs and Summit all carry it at a better price. But this one came off e-bay, new in box shipped for $24. I am thinking about adding a little silver paint to the coil since it shows thru or maybe some chrome tape I have sitting around.
I figured you guys would rate transparent caps right up there with under car neon and LED's
From my kit car VW days transparent caps are taboo...they were poorly made low quality junk,
I blamed it on how bugpack made them I would run one at night cruisng on my VW trike and it was way cool...some caps would go south in as little as 10 hours of use,
I was running electronic ignition and I could "feel" the difference in caps.
I carried a brick colored Bosch cap with me...
While your HEI clear caps looks wicked cool...it looses in that when you cruise at night no one can see it...

They can't see my alum hi-vol water pump and chrome valve covers, but I know they are there.
They can't see the headers, but I think, they would know they are there.
Mr. Gasket is not the best, but their stuff is usually ok. Just in case I have a plain black one in the storage compartment.
I wasnt poking at you just being a tad bit too honest I guess,
Your water pump is made to pump water it does it's job with no eyes on it, chrome valve covers hold in the oil and admitted are chrome to add some flash....headers even pretty ones are ugly....a clear dizzy cap besides possible looking for voltage leaks or cross fires ( which they can cause ) their sole purpose is to be seen flashing...seldom does one leave the car running at a show or cruise in the dark where the flash will show....but like you said YOU know it's there.
On my VeeDubs you cant really see the fire until it's turning pretty good, When they would start to go south on VW's you would notice a power loss, I hope Mr Gasket is better than bugpak but I wonder if that cap is a China made item....I wasnt dissin it I will even get one I just dont expect it to last very long or work as well as my hipo red cap

I am not a part of the United States of the easily offended, so no problem, all opinions are welcome. Your posts are throughout the forum and I consider them to be well informed.
It has always been funny to me those who put a 'what do you think' post then get upset when someone did not like it. Some of my projects have been eagles, some turkeys. Trying to find just the right balance or power and bling is why I love messing with old cars.
Not that you would, but do NOT get any harsh solvents on it. I learened the hard way that the clear plastic is not solvent resistant and will melt with the wrong type of solvent(brake cleaner is what ate mine)
Funny story, a guy I know with a T-Bucket decided he wanted to run a clear cap. Car ran fine before, but after the cap install, it would miss completely randomly. He spend weeks trying to figure out what the problem was and could never track it down. The one day he was driving along and seemed to notice a pattern in the missing. Every time he would drive under a shadow it would miss.
Well, he finally made the connection. He was running a Mallory Unilite optical distributer. When he would go from shadow to light, the optical pickup would sense the light and fire the coil at the wrong time. As soon as he got home, the clear cap went in the trash and the problem magically went away
