Hello, my name is Fletcher. I am 13 and new to using the forum. My dad,Andy,(andycw on forum) got me a 1972 corvette stingray T-top. With a smile from ear to ear, we took it for a drive. I guess Im getting the corvette fever because I cant get the thought of my own garage out of my head. We have a long list of projects for it, but just knowing I've enjoyed helping the progress of his 69' being renewed, I will surely enjoy fixing my own. Tomorrow I'll learn how to change oil, clean it ect. I also will be trying to decide on the original paint, warbonnet yellow, or a dark cherry red for a paint job. Well, I believe I've fairly introduced myself, and I wish a good luck to anyone else's projects they have.
Congratulations Bud! I love the car and I saw the post when your Dad was thinking of buying it for you. When I was 13 my Dad wouldnt have bought me a gallon of gas never mind a Vette. You are a lucky young man, I'd give the old man a big hug! Enjoy your project and remember...Father knows best!!!

Have fun with the car and congrats. Now get to bed, its past your bedtime.
Haha. My dad said he bought a 69' all by himself when he was 14. He told me I was very lucky, as you all have said. He told me as long as I keep making straight A's, always say yes sir and no sir, stay out of trouble and don't ever drive fast I can keep it, and I've seen how people end up when they don't do these things so I won't disobey those rules anytime soon. Thanks for the congrats.
Hi Fletcher! Welcome to the forum. Yes, you are a very lucky boy to have a dad that buy's you a vette! I like his set of rules, wise man.
You will both have a great time working on the vette together, memories that will last a life time.
The wealth of knowledge here on the forum is amazing, and any questions you have can be answered here. Personally, I love Warbonnet Yellow. The red is nice, but you see red vettes every where.
Enjoy your new Vette!
Glenn

Fletcher, now you listen to me, son: Red Vettes get the chicks!!
Seriously, though, raise your right hand and repeat after me in front of all your new CF Friends. I will not:
1. do drugs
2. drink alcohol and ever get behind the wheel of my Vette.
3. ever drive too fast for the roads.
Remember, these cars can get away from you, they have no airbags, and they do not have any BMW or Mercedes type of energy absorption in a crash.
Congrats on your new 72. Learn all you can. It will be the experience of a lifetime.

Don't get me wrong, I love red vettes! I had a 69 Impala convert Porsche red back in the 80's-90's. Loved that color. I'm saying Warbonnet Yellow is just less common.

lucky guy is putting it mildly,i got my first vette at 52. cars are replaceable, but the love between a dad an his son is a one time go around.drive it slow, its ment to be enjoyed, not destroyed. and jack stands are a must, plus chock the wheels so it wont roll when its in the air. never be in a hurry. all the best, tom
Fletcher you are a fortunate young man. I hope you realize what an awesome father you have. My parents bought me a 1971 vega so count yourself very lucky.
