Default Carb Dates 71 LS5

Got a question about carb dates on 71 LS5. All the dates of the parts I've found on my LS5 are before 2-5 weeks of the car's build date. I've heard about the 6 month rule, but am still curious what dates others with original carbs have. The carb I have is not original, but is a correct replacement, I really would like to get it numbers correct eventually.

Hi M7,
On my 71 350/270, with a mid-January build date, the Q-Jet's Julian date is 0071 ... the seventh day of 1971 .... so about a week before the car was built.
One of the few dates on my car that seems a bit surprising is the intake manifold which has a late August casting date on it!
Regards,
Alan

On my June 72 built LS-5, Carb is Carter verison Quadajet with a Dec. 71 stamp which shows M1

My 71 LS5, with original carb, is an early Sept 70 build and the carb is dated 1980 which is the 198th day of 1970 (July 17th, 1970 if my math is correct) which would put it about 6-8 weeks before the car build date.

My 1971 LS5 has a build date of 5/28/71 and the carb is 1121 or 4/22/71.

Thanks guys.. helps a bunch. I think I'm looking for about a 1221 date code.. should be easy to remember. My car's build date is 6-8-71 (K08)

Thanks again,
Mike
