Default Light source - heat/ac control

Recently renewed shift console in our '78 pace car. Put new heat/ac control in along with several other bits. While pulling our car into Fair Oaks Mall last night for a weekend local club show, noted that I didn't have any light on the heat/ac control. Changed bulb on shift indicator and that works fine, but nothing up top.

Pulled the old unit out of the storage box and don't see anything on it that looks like a light source. What did I miss?

Not a big deal to get to it, but need to know what I'm looking for.

Anyone around the Columbus, Indiana area this weekend, Columbus Corvette Club is having their annual indoor club show at Fair Oaks Mall on 25th street. I think we ended up with around 25 cars.

There is a "fish eye" bulb under the gauge console overhang above the AC outlet ducts. It shines downs on the HVAC controls. It is a special bulb. You can see the peep hole for it in this photo from my 78'

A couple of gauges. Clearly I don't have enough to do!

Default Light source - heat/ac control

Thanks to Duke94 for the info. Surprise - surprise, sure didn't think about light coming from top of the gage cluster panel. Can bulb be replaced from interior? Screw in/out? Can't look at Vette right now as it's in a mall show over the weekend. I will check it out tomorrow while at the show.

The easiest way is to remove glove box. It would help if someone could post a pic of what your fishing for. I'll see if I have one in my PB.
(If you decide to pull the cluster forward and replace be careful because the socket can rip the upper dash before you know it.)

This shows the hole the socket goes in and the contacts for ground and power.
Edit.....And the bulb , but the socket that the bulb is in is NOT the correct socket, its too small.

I had to pull the center pod out of my '79 since I'm rebuilding the HVAC and I'm taking this opportunity to replace every bulb in the entire car. Except the peephole light. It seems that the previous owner RTV'ed the entire bulbcap into place. With a lot of RTV!
