There are lot's of colors of paint and different kinds/colors of plating under there.
For the two you asked about...the frame is semi-gloss black and the dfferential was natural cast iron. Many people paint the differential and other cast iron parts with a paint called Cast Blast rather than leave them bare.

Alan 71 had some good advice. What I do is use regular black urethane-based black (with hardner added) and add in some flattening agent. That produces a nice semi-gloss with better chip resistance than a regular enamel paint. It takes a little more effort to ensure you get the ratio so you have the 'right' level of flattness.
Eastwood does make some good products. I'm about to order some paint for my suspension parts, and am also thinking about ordering Zero Rust for the chassis and underbody.
