Default Supercharger

I have a 1978 L82 Pace Car with 11,000 miles that I have installed an Edelbrock Dual Quad setup on it just for looks. I never hot rod the car and have never had it above 70 mph & dont intend to. Can I install a Weiand 671 blower on the car. I don't want to go into the lower part of the motor. What pulleys are needed to run pump gas & do I need an electric fan. This is just for shows, less than 500 miles per year.I'm 69 years old & think I have a sound mind.
Thanks, Jackie

I have seen where the supercharger is empty, just for looks and just acts like another manifold. perhaps this is the path you may think about...as its no more wear on the engine.

You can put a 6-71 on the engine just for shows and no hotrodding...you'll have to find that right boost level to give back the power the engine is loosing by turning the Blower.

of course you'll have to loose the hood or cut a hole in the one you have. Don't get a fake supercharger, it turns people off.

Just under drive it and keep the RPMs down.
My motor was not built with forced induction in mind but at right around 9-1 and 6-7 pounds of boost it's a blast stop light to stop light.
I spin the blower a little faster but keep the Rs below 5500 and it works well.
How goes it luerja? Are you still running those fancy red carbs?

I would go with a BDS Blower & kit ( they will taylor pulleys to your needs ) its been awhile since i talked to anyone there , think the guy was Norm ?? that I chatted with , they are very nice people there ,and another plus buying from them is great customer support ....
http://blowerdriveservice.com/hufferblowerkit.php
you could use the carbs you have ( you are not going to be trashing on it so I would not worry about carbs ..just re-jet if needed ). Electric fans would simplify things . gonna need a scoop for the carbs an fuel lines ...
but you are probably looking at around 5k or more to swap out , linkages ,and make mods to hood.
main question is ..is it worthy to do to a factory matching car ? any Sentimental Value ?
Look Good ...Yes , Run Good ..Yes

I agree with Rmorgan... BDS is a great place to go for product and support.

I think you will need carbs that have a external power reference valve. otherwise you will go lean when you set on the gas and you'll have backfire thru the carbs... "ask me how i know" unless you jet it really high but then run too rich.

The original poster says he has dual Edelbrock carbs. I see a lot of those on roots blowers although I'm not a big fan.
Some people think since Edelbrocks don't have power valves they are good out of the box for a blower but they do have a power piston and metering rods that under high vacuum conditions will be pulled down creating a lean condition having the same effect as a Holley/Demon power valve.
AS Rmorgan&11 mentioned with very low boost levels and little or no WOT the carbs he has should be good to go..

Just an opinion, mind you....

If you are going to put a blower on your engine, put a 'real' blower on your engine. Otherwise, it's just for "looks" and trying to impress someone else. But, if that does it for you, have at it.

I've seen it done before as well. Kinda like putting a sock in your pants, isn't it?
